Bobby Madritsch went 6 strong innings and left fielder Jeff Davanon had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the pitiful Dominican Republicans were badly beaten by the Columbus Crowd, 13 to 0. Columbus took the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning as they scored 4 runs on 3 base hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Madritsch(4-5) and Columbus. That was all the run support Madritsch required. Columbus finished with 14 hits while Dominican ended up with 3. Josh Beckett(4-6) absorbed the loss. He was unable to control the Columbus offense and allowed 6 hits and 5 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings. Columbus won for the 6th straight time. 'Everything seems to be going right for us' said Frank Lopeman. 'I've got the easiest job in the league right now!'
